We are delighted to announce the Fife Architects won an award for ‘Best Small Project’ at this year’s Dundee Institute of Architects Design Awards for our Timber Clad Extension & Internal Alterations, Pittenweem.

The project comprised a pair of timber extensions to a traditional fisherman’s cottage in the centre of Pittenweem. The project sought the use materials complementing the local building vernacular while responding to the client’s brief. The completed project included two timber extensions including a kitchen dining space, with direct access to the pretty gravel garden, internal alterations to create a much needed second bedroom and another small extension used to create a comfortable bedroom/ensuite layout.

The new extensions were clad with untreated larch that will weather naturally over time. Charcoal grey profiled sheeting is used for the roof of the extension, complimenting the orange clay pantile profile of the existing roof of the cottage.
