SHORTLISTED FOR RIAS / RIBA AWARD 2014

Fife Architects completed this pair of timber clad extensions for a private client in the East Neuk. The new extensions enabled the owners of this beautiful farm cottage to completely change the way they used their home. The new dining extension is directly linked to the garden via a large bi-folding door set and has a very cosy new wood-burning stove. At the front of the house, a new porch extension established a presence that was missing in the original cottage and provides ample practical space for coats and muddy boots. Traditional materials and a modern but sensitive approach enhances this traditional farm cottage which is located just a few miles from St Andrews.

We then revisited this project 13 years later and we are thrilled to see that not only has the extension held up its beautiful aesthetic, but it has been great benefit to our clients lives, providing more room, storage and overall enjoyable living space.
