The Gate Lodge, Arncroach

The extension and refurbishment of the Gate Lodge near Anstruther is the second phase in our project at this estate and follows the adjacent conversion of the Doocot in to a luxury self catering home. The design includes a pair of timber extensions which will accommodate two new bathrooms, as well as internal alterations which include opening up the living area creating a more spacious and practical open plan room. Alterations to the Lodge over the years have resulted in a mix of traditional pan tiled hipped roofs which have given it a somewhat contrived but unified architectural style. Our design for the new extensions seeks to add a more modern interpretation of the hipped roof using a palette of materials referencing the design of the adjacent Doocot. The bathroom extensions will be clad in charred larch boarding with dark slate roofs and hidden gutters with existing fascias and gutters painted black.
