New Build Sustainable Cottage

New Build Sustainable Cottage designed to fit within excess garden ground in north east Fife.
The site is conveniently located half a mile away from a renowned Golf Links and Beach and is sited to fit within excess ground of a traditional cottage within the conservation village. The village is known for its charming coastal setting and is rich with traditional stone buildings and proximity to the scenic North Sea coastline.
The new-build house aims to respect the traditional Scottish countryside aesthetic, considering the traditional materials that are sourced locally where possible. One interesting feature of the house is that the walls are built using a prefabricated straw insulated wall panels made of 98% natural renewable materials. Making them as close to nature as possible they are resulting in high indoor air quality with no harmful substances emitted. The entire system is permeable to vapour and it allows excess humidity to escape – and with no thermal bridges. You can find more about these panels here.
Existing trees on the grounds have all been retained to further retain the biodiversity of the site, including beautiful Cherry, Holly, and Cyprus trees.
