Oak Frame House, Arncroach

Fife Architects have planning approval for this one-off modern ‘Oak Frame House’ for a private client, located at the edge of the village of Arncroach, taking advantage of the site’s stunning views overlooking the Firth of Forth and picturesque rural Fife.

This client requested a lifelong energy efficient home and a stylish design that considered principles of aging in place. The oak frame will be infilled with highly insulated render and larch clad panel to form the exterior shell. The roof will be finished in natural slate and locally sourced Scot Larch vertical cladding. The building is oriented North-South to maximise solar passive gain and minimise privacy issues to adjacent properties.

The new house will provide 3 bedrooms – 1 with en-suite facilities and walk-in wardrobe downstairs and two upstairs. The upstairs lounge with large balcony maximises views of the countryside and south facing aspect and a large study/gallery and bathroom complete the upstairs accommodation. The downstairs open plan kitchen, dining area, and family area opens out to the garden. A handy utility/dog area is accessed from the front of the property with space for parking and a detached oak frame garage.
