Oak Frame Extension, Ceres
Completed in August 2023 this modest but elegant Green Oak Frame Extension was designed to create a room that took advantage of the surrounding views that couldn’t be seen from the existing house and also bring the gorgeous trees surrounding the site into the interior of the house. This elegant design incorporates direct glazing panels, seamlessly harmonising with insulated timber frame panels, and culminating in a brick chimney wall at the gable end.
The side extension’s glazing is purposefully engineered with solar-controlled double glazing, a deliberate choice to minimise heat loss and enhance energy efficiency. Furthermore, it features a thermal break seamlessly integrated within the oak frame for maximum efficiency.
To provide access to the external decking, we’ve incorporated side infill panels using treated Scottish larch cladding, accentuating the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. A welcoming side double glass door invites occupants to step into this delightful retreat.
Importantly, our design philosophy revolves around minimising disruption to the existing house. Thus, we emphasise that no modifications are intended for the existing structure, ensuring a seamless transition between the old and the new.
