Luxury Oak Frame Extension, Fife

This luxury oak frame extension and refurbishment project involved a careful intervention that sympathetically modernised this listed property located in the conservation village of Kilconquhar.

The garden of the property leads down to Kilconquhar loch which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), therefore, it was important that the extension connected with this visually and materially through a sympathetic and eco-friendly design. Fife Architects‘ design created the addition of an open plan kitchen dining area extension within the fully glazed oak frame to make the most of the views. The master bedroom ceiling was vaulted with new roof lights introduced and exposed oak beam. The whole house underwent a full renovation as well – the main bathroom on the first floor was replaced, the original front door was reinstated and a useful utility/boot room was incorporated on the ground floor. A nature-viewing timber cabin was also designed at the edge of the loch.

The full timber cabin project can be viewed here.
