Cottage Timber Clad Extensions, Pittenweem
We were asked by our clients to sympathetically extend and alter this single storey traditional fisherman’s cottage in the centre of Pittenweem. They wanted the design to meet their current and future needs and for us to use materials complementing the local building vernacular. Our proposal included two timber extensions including a kitchen dining space, with direct access to the pretty gravel garden, internal alterations to create a much needed second bedroom and another small extension used to create a comfortable bedroom/ensuite layout.
The new extensions were clad with untreated larch that will weather naturally over time. Charcoal grey profiled sheeting is used for the roof of the extension, complimenting the orange clay pantile profile of the existing roof of the cottage.
