Affordable Housing Development, Cardenden

This project was developed for a client wanting to create a modern and sustainable development that would meet the growing needs for affordable housing in the area. The houses were designed to blend in well with the surrounding buildings. The use of white render, dark brick, timber fencing and ready grown hedging planted at the front all combined to help the homes to fit in alongside their neighbours. The proposed design complies with the ‘Housing for varying needs standard’ meaning it can be updated as people grow older providing life long homes. Features include a level access entrance, ergonomically designed kitchens, the option to easily install a level access shower in the ground level WC, a large main bedroom providing space for working from home and dedicated parking. All of the houses have been designed with high levels of thermal and sound insulation that is well above the minimum requirements, aiming to achieve an ‘A’ energy performance rating. The development is made from prefabricated highly insulated timber kits which can be delivered to site ready for fast track construction minimising disruption to the adjacent properties.
